Sulfuric acid in the Amazon basin: measurements and evaluation of existing sulfuric acid proxies

چکیده

Abstract. Sulfuric acid is a key contributor to new particle formation, though measurements of its gaseous concentrations are difficult make. Several parameterizations estimate sulfuric exist, all which were constructed using from the Northern Hemisphere. In this work, we report first Amazon basin. These consistent with measured in Hyytiälä, Finland, though, unlike there no clear correlation global radiation. There was minimal difference observed between wet and dry seasons We also test efficacy existing proxies region. Our results suggest that nighttime production due both stabilized Criegee intermediate pathway oxidation SO2 by OH, latter not currently accounted for proxies. illustrate drawbacks common substitution radiation OH concentrations. None tested effectively at night. For estimates times day, recently published proxy based on data boreal forest should be used. If only daytime needed, several recent do include sufficient. More investigation pathways necessary close gap

The decomposition of methionine in sulfuric acid.

The classical procedure for the preparation of homocystine consists of boiling a solution of methionine in 50 per cent sulfuric acid followed by neutralization (1). Although the yields of homocystine account for only 25 to 45 per cent of the methionine, the nature of the reaction has received little attention since originally published by Butz and du Vigneaud (1). These authors noted the format...

SUBSTANCE PROFILES Strong Inorganic Acid Mists Containing Sulfuric Acid CAS No. 7664-93-9 (Sulfuric Acid)

Strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid are known to be human carcinogens based on sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity from studies in humans that indicate a causal relationship between exposure to strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid and human cancer. Occupational exposures to strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid are specifically associated with ...

Strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid.

Occupational exposure to strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid is specifically associated with laryngeal and lung cancer. Studies of one U.S. cohort of male workers in pickling operations in the steel industry found excesses of laryngeal cancer (approximately twofold) after adjustment for smoking and other potentially confounding variables (Steenland et al. 1988). A ten-year foll...
